Cyclones Set to Begin Season Against Wyoming
ISU Projected Starters Revealed
The Iowa State Cyclones have released their official depth chart for the 2023 season. The Cyclones are coming off a 4-8 campaign in 2022 and are looking to improve under new head coach Matt Campbell.
The depth chart features several key returning players, including quarterback Hunter Dekkers, running back Jirehl Brock, and wide receiver Xavier Hutchinson. Dekkers threw for over 3,000 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2022, while Brock rushed for over 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns. Hutchinson led the team with 83 receptions for 1,071 yards and six touchdowns.
The Cyclones also have several new additions to their roster, including transfers Deon Silas (defensive end), Myles Purchase (linebacker), and Jaren Kanak (safety). Silas was a four-star recruit out of high school and is expected to play immediately on the defensive line. Purchase is a graduate transfer from Oklahoma who has started 18 games in his career. Kanak is a junior college transfer who was named a first-team All-American in 2022.
The Cyclones open the 2023 season on September 2nd against Wyoming at home. They will then travel to face Kansas State on September 9th before hosting Ohio on September 16th. ISU will begin Big 12 play on September 23rd against Oklahoma.
